A professional who gets the job done, though seldom without a good deal of grumbling. Maillaux was a mercenary before being recruited into the Southern MILICIA, and would prefer things be done the easiest way. He dislikes authority, and is pessimistic about the abilities of others; any respect he shows is for someone who has earned it in his eyes.

A pragmatic and practical individual, Vesping has a hard and business-like exterior, willing to follow orders or come to creative solutions, depending on the situation. Her defenses, however, are prone to failure when confronted with the possibility of harm coming to those she considers "innocents" - particularly children.

A revolutionary leader from Caprice, Pulciano is used to fighting hard and putting secondary concerns behind her. She comes off as knowledgeable, quietly proud and more than a little bit mysterious. Although she does not reveal it to many, Pulciano came from a patrician family ousted from power when Earth invaded Caprice. Since then, she has worked towards expelling the invaders, even if she must ally with the barbaric Terra Novans to do it.

Calm and relaxed both on and off the field of battle Keiji, or simply Kei as he is known by his friends and comrades, little resembles the confident and light hearted duelist that he was less than a cycle ago. Three years ago, Kage was assigned to lend his expertise, in the capacity of test pilot, to a top secret Paxton Arms research and development project somewhere deep within the Badlands. Kage soon found himself so enwrapped in the project that he forsook all leave and thus all opportunities to visit his wife and daughter. The project ended, and Kage was preparing to return home to his family when the NEC forces destroyed the city in which his family was residing. This tragedy brought Kage a calm, grounded, professional demeanor, covering a silently burning core of anger and guilt.

Born and raised in the ideals of the Revisionist Church, Wallis fervently believes that conquering Caprice and then Earth is a holy cause, a crusade of sorts. This fanatical devotion makes Wallis a good soldier, though it sparks friction between him and his team-mates, who dislike being preached at. Still, even they recognize Wallis's worth - few others have such a selfless attitude towards each and every mission.

A recent star military school graduate, inexperienced in actual combat, Temple comes from a family with a long military tradition she is at great pains to continue. Despite her obvious piloting skills and her arduous education, Temple doesn't have the self-confidence to make moves without direct orders from her superiors. With supervision, however, she should make a fine soldier. She was picked for the strike force not only for her natural, if untried, combat talents, but for her expertise in electronic and mechanical systems.

Several years ago, Sobec was one of the best Gear pilots in the Southern States, but he committed grievous crimes while serving with the Iron Defenders and was court-martialed. His years in prison have plainly warped him. Exactly what his offense was is classified, as is the nature of the experiments he was subjected to while incarcerated. Sobec's inclusion in Black Talon is due both to his incredible piloting skills and zeal on the battlefield, and the fact that he is utterly expendable. Sobec is sane enough to understand that this mission is his last chance, and that no one trusts him. With all the appeal of an asp, Sobec professes to no emotion except psychotic hatred for his enemies. In the end, it is clear that he is willing to sacrifice himself, but he shows it through deeds, not words.
